Ladies fishing in Chinese art — Treasure Hunt

I have recently started to notice images of ladies fishing in various kinds of eighteenth-century Chinese art. It seems to have been a well-established theme. This motif is seen on a variety of objects and in different media, including prints, mirror paintings and porcelain. I am not entirely sure whether these female figures are supposed […]

Sunday Reflections – “To belittle is to be little” ~ Kahlil Gibran

Amen

The Path

Sunday I went to Sunday School, church, and evening service. I was in need of some serious churching. I was in a terrible mood all weekend. I was barely hanging onto my temper and my attitude. I was depressed and moody.

I got to Sunday school and the pastors wife told me she had thought about calling me the day before to see if I was coming. I told her that was mighty convenient because I had decided I wasn’t as of that day, but changed my mind at the last minute. I always think those things happen for a reason. She didn’t call because He knew I would show up without prodding because I needed it so desperately.

The message of Sunday school was that God uses our brokenness to His glory. That we have to become broken so that we can fulfill our job in Him. This hit home for me because my…

Don’t Go It Alone: Four Great Blogging Events

The Daily Post

Part of what makes your blog a “blog” instead of a personal diary is the way it connects you to other people: when you’re blogging, you’re part of a global network. Hopefully, you’re already making the most of that by reading other blogs, leaving comments, and engaging with your own readers.

Participating in community-run blog events is another fantastic way to connect with other bloggers. Along with The Daily Post‘s daily prompt, weekly photo challenges, and Blogging U. courses, there are many more blogger-run events on every topic imaginable, like:

Not only is Friday Fictioneers a way to try your hand at a new kind of storytelling — or a low-impact way to try fiction…

I had the pleasure of happening upon this lovely quote on a fellow blogger’s page. Please click here to visit the post and her blog. Wonderful woman, fantastic blog. You should follow her while you’re there. Oh, and follow me too if you haven’t already 🙂

I am pretty sure I did not adhere to this quote today. Let me preface this with listing a few things that are weighing heavily on my mind:

  • My laptop broke 3 weeks ago and I had to spend  $300 for a replacement
  • I thought I would get away with paying $400 for 4 tires, turns out it was going to cost $800
  • I screwed up really bad at work.
  • I’m still playing catch up monetarily from Christmas
  • And now my car windows are messing up
  • This morning was really bad and I had to get myself together to continue my day at work.

Today I had a coupon…

The Path

This will be a shorter blog today. My husband and I are going out tonight for Valentines day (yes, I know it was yesterday but his work schedule did not permit a date night. Plus I was in the nursery today and only present for half of Sunday school.

I was lucky enough to be able to have a conversation with my 14 year old daughter about 50 Shades of Grey. First, let me preface this with saying that it is anyone’s right to see any movie they choose to. I am not judging. I would likely have seen this movie a couple years ago. After reading some great points provided by Family Talk I made the decision not to see this movie.

Again please understand that I am not condemning anyone who has seen the movie. I am simply saying that my personal decision is to not see this movie.
